Cost Manager: Building & Architectural: Liverpool: Salary c. 45,000

I am curtrently working for one of the worlds leading multi-disciplinary consulting engineers, who are a key player for UK positions within water, public health, power, highways and structural engineering.

They are a consulting and business services group that provides many of the design, managerial and engineering services that support todays modern society.
Work with government agencies, local authorities, government-regulated industries and the private-sector to provide safe, reliable roads and railways, well-managed education and civic infrastructure, clean water, and cost-effective energy.

The role I am dealing with can best be described as a Framework Cost Manager to plan, co-ordinate and manage quantity surveying activities, to manage and control the overall programme construction budgets and to participate in commercial processes with the framework constructors to ensure the delievery of optimal value for money.

This positionwill report directly to the divisional manager for the office and will be operating within the Building & Archecture Team. In terms of current workload, this position will play a key role in the Cost Management of Liverpools Building Schools Programme.

Main Responsibilites:
Establish processes and procedures for quantity surveying, cost management and open book contract sum negotiation
Carry out resource planning and resource management for the quantity surveying team and its activities in both traditionally designed projects and design and build projects.
Act as the leader of the team of quantity surveyors that will be involved in the Building projects and manage its programme and financial performance.
Establish procedures and formats for monitoring and reporting on the financial situation of individual projects and the programme of projects
Participate in the setting up and continuing activity of framework workgroups for commercial collaboration, sharing of best practice and standardisation.
Attend regular meetings to review each of the projects with the project director and project managers.
Prepare monthly (or as otherwise required) reports to the project director.
Assist in undertaking quantity surveying duties as necessary.
I am looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Cost Manager with relevant exposure to managing Surveying projects and the drive to take on the challenge. A relevant degree and previous Cost Management experience within a Quality Assured environment would be a distinct advantage.
