Civil /Geotechnical Engineer

Our clients civil design team undertakes the design of wind turbine foundations for wind farms constructed in the UK, Ireland and Sweden and provides support in the form of design reviews for markets in Europe, Australia and North America. The client is also involved in offshore wind farms in the UK and pursuing development opportunities in a number of regions. In order for them to continue to grow there foundation design capability they are looking for a civil/geotechnical engineer to complement the existing skills within the civil design team.

The main functions of the role would be to:-
� Review and advise on geotechnical requirements of projects throughout the development and construction phases;
� Specify, manage and interpret geotechnical site investigation programs;
� Perform slope stability assessments relating to construction activities at wind farm sites, including management of contractors and consultants;
� Undertake the geotechnical design of wind farm infrastructure, including access tracks, crane hard-standings and wind turbine foundation systems at preliminary and construction stages of project development;
� Provide specialist technical advice to all parts of clients business
� Support construction activities for projects as required.
The person:
The successful candidate will have a degree in civil engineering with a specialisation in geotechnical engineering or soil mechanics. No specific experience of the wind energy industry is required, but would be an advantage. The candidate should be working towards, or already have chartered status, and should be able to demonstrate:
� A proven track record in geotechnical assessment and design of excavations, foundations and structural earthworks;
� An excellent understanding of geotechnical and soil/structural analysis techniques;
� A practical approach to geotechnical applications in civil engineering practice;
� The ability to work within a team and to manage competing demands from RES work around the world;
� An ability to interface easily with office and site staff.
