Our Client is a leading global provider of engineering and construction services to the process industries. They are currently looking for a Process Engineer to join their nuclear team in the North East/Cumbria. Relevant experience should include operating as the engineer in charge of the engineering of major equipment or systems on nuclear projects, and must have been responsible for carrying out these tasks with minimum supervision. In addition, must have experience in a leading role and must be able to liaise with engineers and drawing office staff of all disciplines. Liaison with project management and all departments outside the engineering department that interface with or are part of a project team. Knowledge of nuclear unit operations, particularly sludge handling, dose uptake assessments, shielding calculations and general nuclear decommissioning activities is essential.

JOB DEFINITION:
Provision of technical and management expertise to nuclear based project teams to ensure technical adequacy of all engineering and control of costs and time within defined budgets and programmes.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Documentation:
Prepares and develops process deliverables to a high technical standard. Also directs others in the production of these deliverables and checks and critiques these deliverables from both a conceptual and detailed perspective:

Process Flow Diagrams (including heat and mass balances)
Equipment Lists
Equipment Process Data Sheets
Process Descriptions
Process Design Criteria
Engineering Flow Diagrams (P&IDs)
Utility Flow Diagrams
Instrument Process Data
Relief Dossiers
Line Lists
Interlock Descriptions or Matrix
Operating Manuals
Shielding and other Engineering calculations.

Is thoroughly familiar with all issues connected with process safety, including design and specification of relief and venting systems. Serves, when required as chair of HAZOP sessions on small projects.

Is familiar with Project Execution Model, all Company Procedures, Departmental Methods, Guidelines and international standards.

Computer Skills:
Is thoroughly familiar with word processing, spread sheeting, electronic communication
and document management software. Has a reasonable working knowledge of appropriate simulation software and is capable of effectively applying this knowledge.

Applicants should be Degree qualified Chemical Engineers, with a solid background in the nuclear industry. Chartered status is preferred but not essential, and applicants should be flexible to travel to site as required.
