Our client is the UKs leading provider of integrated solutions for power plant operators. Located in Rugby, West Midlands, its service workshop and engineering centre undertake manufacture of bespoke steam turbine retrofits, rapid response overhauls of steam and gas turbine components, technical support and supervision, plant technology assessments, product development and risk management.

The procurement department is responsible for all bought out parts for the Rugby activity and currently there is a vacancy for a Buyer/Expediter to ensure that all purchased materials and services are ordered and delivered in a timely manner to meet the needs of the business, and provide reporting to support contract reviews.

Main duties will include:
expediting all materials to ensure delivery by agreed date and escalating as necessary if required
generating project reports and undertaking analysis of delivery statistics for the procurement function
dealing with non-conformance issues to ensure satisfactory resolution
prioritising and arranging clearance of appropriate material certification
placing purchase orders on internal and external suppliers
obtaining cost estimates for various components for inclusion in commercial quotations to customers
participating in a range of improvement activities to ensure the business benefits from best practice, and quality and cost advantages


Applicants should be have good background in engineering or business administration or possess a CIPS qualification, and must have worked in a purchasing role ideally within an engineering manufacturing organisation to including purchasing raw materials, forgings and castings.

Also, ideal candidates should have a sound understanding of purchasing procedures and best practice; be computer literate, proficient in Excel and Powerpoint and familiar with MS Project; be able to pay close attention to detail; have a valid UK driving license and possess excellent communication, negotiating and relationship building skills.

Experience of SAP would be an advantage. The role will involve travel in the UK and occasionally overseas.
